Sustainability in Travel Programs (United States & Europe)

The study, "Sustainability in Travel Programs” sponsored by Enterprise, surveyed nearly 300 U.S. and European-based Travel Managers to understand how Travel Managers currently view sustainability initiatives, the role sustainability plays with ground transportation programs, Travel Managers’ future intentions regarding incorporating sustainability into their programs, and similarities and differences by regions and across time.

Highlights Include:

  • The majority of European Travel Managers (52 percent) think sustainability is now more important to their organization compared to two years ago, while the majority of U.S. Travel Managers (58 percent) think sustainability has about the same level of importance.
  • Promoting/providing carpooling (40 percent vs. 22 percent), incentives for using mass transit (27 percent vs. 13 percent), and rental car share programs (27 percent vs. 12 percent) are significantly more common among U.S. based companies than European based companies.
