Canadian Cannabis Act Resources

Earlier this year, the Government of Canada introduced Bill C-45, the Cannabis Act, as a move towards the legalization of cannabis across Canada. In June, the Cannabis Act received Royal Assent and therefore became legal in Canada effective October 17, 2018 for personal consumption of recreational and medicinal marijuana.

GBTA has been following this very closely, as this ruling holds significant implications for business travel. In an effort to understand how this change to the Canadian federal laws will impiact business travel, in particular cross-border Canada-U.S. travel, we at GBTA have been in communication with the Canadian Government's Global Affairs department, along with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency, to keep you up to date.
